Dinos blank Timberwolves in inaugural meeting

| By:
BOX SCORE PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. - Two goals apiece from University of Calgary midfielders Lane Forsyth and Kieran Lane-Oppenheim put the UNBC Timberwolves away in a 5-0 final on Saturday afternoon.

The Dinos opened up scoring early with Forsyth finishing a rebound off of Timberwolves keeper Mitch McFarlane in minute 6. Forsyth followed up by adding a second goal in the 28th minute when a cross ball from Izak Lawrence landed directly in front of Forsyth who finished the play by knocking it past McFarlane.

Retaining the majority of possession in the first half was no advantage for the Timberwolves who outshot the Dinos 13-11 but were outscored 3-0. Outside back Connor Noftle and midfielder Sourosh Amani continued to play big even though the Timberwolves were outsized and outmuscled by the Dinos.

Kieran Lane-Oppenheim worked his way around the Timberwolves defense to start the second half off with an unassisted goal in the 49th minute. Oppenheim was able to work down field and around the UNBC outside back before hitting the top right corner of the net. Oppenheim finished the Dinos scoring with an assisted goal by Izak Lawrence in the 56th minute.

Luke Mori was also able to find the back of the Timberwolves net at minute 28.

The Calgary Dinos pick up their second win (2-4-1) after a 5-0 final over the UNBC Timberwolves (0-7-0).

The Dinos are set to play the Mount Royal Cougars in a double-header at home next weekend.
