WINNIPEG - The No. 10 University of Calgary Dinos rode a 22-point performance by Alex Cole to a 73-52 win over the Manitoba Bisons Friday night, grabbing their sixth straight win.

Calgary (13-5) is in a race with Saskatchewan (12-4) for second place in the division and could still grab that final hosting spot, but they'll need to keep winning and to get some help. With four games remaining for the Huskies, Calgary needs them to drop at least two more with the Dinos swepping Winnipeg next week in order to finish second, as Saskatchewan holds the tiebreaker over the Dinos.

Buut it was another great performance from Cole that extended the win streak to six for the host team of the 2012 CIS Women's Basketball Final 8.

For the second straight night, it was Cole's inside presence that proved unstoppable for the Bisons. Her 22 points led all scorers, and her physicality proved difficult to deal with - eight of her points were scored at the free throw line on 11 attempts, and five of her seven rebounds were on the offensive glass.

Manitoba, which lost its 12th straight conference game, couldn't find an answer for the Dinos depth at the forward spot. Leading the way for Manitoba, in her last home game, was senior Mubo Ilelaboye with 17 points.

The script for the game was similar to that of Thursday night. The Bisons admirably hung around for most of the game after going down by double digits early. Thanks to another solid shooting night from role players like Robyn Eyer, Maria Pawlyshyn, and Christiane Fischer, who went a combined 6 for 13, they got to within six in the third quarter before falling behind on back-to-back threes from Calgary guard Megan Lang.

Lang's 10 points put her among four Dinos in double digits, with Jenna Kaye (16) and Jessica Franz (12) joining the party. Franz had eight boards to lead the way in that category for Calgary, while Kiersten Hilton grabbed seven rebounds to go with her seven points on the night.

The Dinos close out the regular season next week when they face the Winnipeg Wesmen in the Jack Simpson Gym. Calgary will honour seniors Lang and Kaye after Saturday night's match-up with the Wesmen.

Both games tip off at 6 p.m. MT, live on CanadaWest.tv.
