CALGARY – Fifth-year point guard Jenna Kaye put on a show for the home crowd Saturday night, recording a triple double to lead the No. 9 Calgary Dinos to an 88-62 win over the Winnipeg Wesmen in the Jack Simpson Gym.

Kaye, along with Megan Lang, were honoured in a post-game ceremony by Dinos head coach Shawnee Harle following the last regular season game of their careers – but in the 40 minutes before that, the Sackville, N.B. native showed her all-around talent with 10 points, 13 assists, and 14 rebounds on the night.

It got started in a hurry when Kaye picked up seven helpers in the first quarter alone as her slick passing helped the Dinos shoot out to a 22-9 lead after 10 minutes, a night after falling 76-70 to the unranked Wesmen.

Her triple-double was achieved midway through the third quarter when she fed Erika Romanow, who launched one of her six three-pointers on the night.

On the whole, it was a much better performance from the Dinos than the series opener. Calgary shot 44 per cent from the field and an even 12-for-24 from beyond the arc, while the Wesmen shot an anemic 27 per cent after dominating for most of Friday night's contest. Winnipeg's long-range shooting went cold, with just five treys on 23 attempts after nine on Friday, while Calgary tripled its output from downtown.

Jessica Franz had another solid outing with 22 points and 12 rebounds in 31 minutes' work, helping the Dinos pound the ball down low and score 30 in the paint. Romanow put up 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting, with all her field goal tries coming from three-point territory. Tamara Jarrett added 11 points for the Dinos, while Lang added six in her final regular season home game.

Winnipeg was led by a 22-point, nine-rebound night from fifth-year senior Amy Ogidan in her last CIS basketball game. Ogidan scored half her points at the line, and was joined by Alex Warburton (10 points) as the only two Wesmen in double digits on the night.

Calgary won the rebounding battle 50-42, while Winnipeg held the edge from the free throw line at 79 percent against Calgary's 67.

Winnipeg wraps up its season with a 9-11 record, in fifth place in the Prairie Division and out of playoff contention. Calgary, on the other hand, finishes an impressive 14-6 campaign and heads to the postseason as the No. 3 seed in the division. The Dinos will enjoy a week off before heading to Abbotsford, B.C. to take on the Fraser Valley Cascades in a best-of-three Canada West quarterfinal series, with the winner advancing to the Final Four.

And the Dinos' aren't quite done at home, either. Calgary hosts the nation's best in the 2012 CIS Women's Basketball Final 8 March 17-19 in the Jack Simpson Gym.
