ABBOTSFORD, B.C. - Thanks to a consistent night with 22 points in each quarter, the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades handed the Calgary Dinos just their third loss of the season by an 88-71 score Friday night at the Envision Athletic Centre.
The Cascades came out strong and quickly established a lead that they would hold onto the entire night. Leading by as many as 10 points in the first quarter, UFV would go into the second quarter up by nine points, holding Calgary to 13 in the first quarter. The Cascades played very well on defense the entire night holding the Dinos in check and maintaining their lead throughout the second and third quarters. In the fourth, UFV's experienced team outscored the Dinos, now 6-3, in the East Division of Canada West by nine to earn the 17-point victory.
UFV was led Aieisha Luyken and Tessa Klassen, both with game-high 26-point performances. Sarah Wierks added 13 points and a team high 13 rebounds, as UFV out-rebounded Calgary 45 to 21 for the game.
The Dinos were led by
Tamara Jarrett, Calgary, Alberta with a 18 point performance.
Jenna Kaye, Sackville, NB added 15 points for the Dinos as four different Calgary players were in double figures.
