CALGARY - With a perfect 3-0 record, the University of Calgary Dinos women's basketball team captured the Ranger Inspection Holiday Hoops tournament Friday afternoon in the Jack Simpson Gym.

After recording a 73-65 win over No. 10 Toronto to open the tournament, the Dinos defeated Victoria 68-57 Thursday before wrapping things up with an 88-38 decision over Royal Military College.

Getting key contributions from every player on the roster, the Dinos had three different leading scorers over the three-day event. Alex Cole's 23-point outing against Toronto started things off, while Megan Lang led the way with 20 over Victoria and Samara Pereira had 14 to pace the Dinos over RMC.

Earlier Friday in the battle for second place, the Toronto Varsity Blues trailed until the final seconds when Rachael Sider hit a three-ball with two seconds remaining to cap a 28-point fourth quarter and give the Blues a 68-67 win.

With a 6-2 record at the break, the Dinos are tied for second place in Canada West's east division - their only two losses coming against the No. 1-ranked Regina Cougars. Calgary re-opens conference play Jan. 6-7 when they visit the Fraser Valley Cascades and Trinity Western Spartans, where a sweep would give the Dinos a perfect 6-0 record against B.C. teams in 2011-12.

The Dinos return home Jan. 13-14 to play host to the No. 5 Saskatchewan Huskies, and it all leads up to March 17-19 when the Dinos host the nation's best at the 2012 CIS Women's Basketball Final 8 in the Jack Simpson Gym.
