WINNIPEG - Leading 2-1 heading into the third period, the Calgary Dinos gave up three goals in the final 20 minutes to fall 4-2 to the Manitoba Bisons Saturday night at the Max Bell Centre in Winnipeg.

With Manitoba on the power play and down 2-1 late in the second period, defenceman Jeremy Schappert scored this second goal of the season, potting a backhanded shot past Dinos net minder Jacob DeSerres. Assisting on the play was assistant captain Tyler Dittmer and forward Blair Macaulay.

Manitoba never looked back, scoring three unanswered goals to take both games of their two game series against Calgary. The Bisons soundly defeated the Dinos 8-1 on Friday night.

The games turning point was undoubtedly Manitoba's five-minute penalty kill of a game misconduct infraction levied against assistant captain Chris Bennias. At 15:42 in the second period, the fifth-year forward was sent to the showers after he was penalized with hitting Calgary defenceman Teigan Zahn in the head. Zahn was down on the ice for quite some time, as training staff looked him over. While it did take him some time to leave the ice, he did so on his own power.

While there was no scoring in the game's opening frame, there was plenty of jawing, surly sneers, and crosschecks from both sides. It was evident that there was still some bad blood and scores left unsettled from last night's contest.

Calgary, not wanting to repeat Friday night's performance in an 8-1 loss, came out aggressively in the second period. Dinos first year forward Dylan Hood opened scoring, with a howitzer of a slap shot, fooling Bisons goalie Joe Caliguri.

After Calgary's second goal from forward Brock Nixon, the Bisons made it a game. Goals from Brendan Rowinski, Jared Walker, and Ian Duval sealed the deal for for the home side Bisons.

With the win, Manitoba is now tied with Alberta and Saskatchewan atop the Canada West division standings while Calgary falls to 9-7-0 and fourth place. The Dinos have wrapped up conference play for 2011, but they will head to Thunder Bay, Ont. next weekend for a two-game series against the Lakehead Thunderwolves.
