CALGARY - The Calgary Dinos women's hockey team looks to continue its winning ways as they host the Regina Cougars this weekend at Father David Bauer Arena. The Dinos are currently on a three game win streak, and they hope that by the end of the weekend it will be five in a row for the 5-1-0 Dinos.
The Dinos are tied for second spot in Canada West standings with 10 points and were ranked fourth in the CIS Top 10 rankings this week. The Dinos hold a winning percentage of .833, the highest in the Canada West association. Leading the Canada West rankings are the Lethbridge Pronghorns with 12 points on the year, while tied with the Dinos for second spot are the Saskatchewan Huskies.
Calgary dominated the UBC Thunderbirds in last weekend's matchup, beating the struggling Thunderbirds by scores of 8-1 and 5-1. The Dinos have recorded victories against all squads they have faced in this first semester of conference play, including Canada West-leading Lethbridge.
The Cougars, who were idle last weekend, currently sit at 3-3-0 on the year tied for fifth in Canada West. The Cougars' victories have come in the form of a shootout victory against Manitoba, and back-to-back victories against UBC.
The last matchup between these two teams came right before the semester break in the 2010-11 season with the Dinos getting the best of the matchup beating the visiting Cougars 7-3 and 7-0.
