Dinos let one slip in Toon Town

| By:
SASKATOON - Trailing 3-1 midway through the second period, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies scored three unanswered goals to defeat the visiting University of Calgary Dinos 4-3 Saturday night in Saskatoon's Rutherford Rink.

BOX SCORE

After the Huskies opened the scoring early in the first period, the Dinos answered with three goals to lead the game. Saskatchewan's Cara Wooster netted two goals and reigning Canada West MVP Breanne George added another to give the Huskies the victory. Wooster and George each finished the night with three points.

With the win, the Huskies improve to 6-2 on the season, while the No. 6 ranked Calgary drops to 6-4. The Dinos have not beat the Huskies since returning to the Canada West last season.

Huskie Sara White opened the scoring at 5:25 in the first period on a power play when her slap shot on a rebound beat Dinos goaltender Amanda Tapp. Calgary answered back at the 10 minute mark of the same frame. Elana Lovell was sent the puck across the ice by Chelsea Peterson, fooling Huskie goalie Mackenzie Rizos,  allowing Lovell to send it in to an empty net

Kira Sonnenberg made it a two goal game when she deflected the puck into the net on a shot by Casey Irving at 15:54 in the first. Erika Mitschke added Calgary's third goal on a back hand shot at 6:58

Wooster scored her first just two minutes after the Mitschke goal on a pass from George. Before the period was up she would add her second of the game at 16:21 on a scramble in front of the net on the power play to make it 3-3.

George netted the game winner just 2:09 into the third period.

Rizos made 37 saves in the game for the Huskies, while Tapp made 31 for Calgary.

Saskatchewan was 3-for-8 on the power play, while Calgary failed to score in their seven times with the man advantage.

The Huskies hit the road to Vancouver to meet the UBC Thunderbirds next weekend, while Calgary returns home to host the University of Manitoba Bisons.
