REGINA – The Calgary Dinos got goals from
Tessa Miller and
Katie Blundell and recorded a 2-0 shutout over the Regina Cougars on Sunday afternoon in a Canada West game at the U of R Field.
BOX SCORE
Miller opened the scoring in the 16th minute after taking a pass from
Morena Ianniello and slipping a shot past Regina goalkeeper Michelle Anderson for her sixth goal of the season.
Blundell scored just eight minutes later after the Cougars were unable to intercept
Jasmine Maser's short pass from the right side. Blundell made no mistake, scoring her seventh goal of the season and giving Calgary all the offence it would need.
Anderson made five saves for the Cougars, while
Kristen Barton made one save to register her third shutout of the season for the Dinos. Calgary outshot Regina by an 11-4 margin during the contest.
Sunday's game was the final game of the season for both teams.
Calgary (7-7-0) finishes just two points out of a Canada West postseason berth, while Regina (2-12-0) finishes with its first multiple-win season in program history.
Sunday also marked the final game for both Natalia Hernandez-Solano and Nicole Renneberg. Hernandez-Solano scored a fine goal off a cross on Saturday against Lethbridge, while Renneberg ends her five-season career ranked fifth in U of R history with 65 conference games played.
