LETHBRIDGE, Alta. – Ashley Hill posted a career high 37 points as the No. 8 Calgary Dinos ended their six-game losing skid with an 86-65 win over the Lethbridge Pronghorns Friday night.

BOX SCORE

The Horns did not have an answer for Hill, as she torched the Horns for 37 points on 11 of 21 from the field, including an impressive six threes.

"We played very hard and very well together as a team, and it was a very important road win," said Dinos associate coach Claire Mitton. "Ashley had a career night and she was of course very good, but different players stepped up at different times for us."

Heading into the weekend, the Horns were trying to build on an upset of the fourth ranked Alberta Pandas last Saturday, and it looked as if they had a little more bounce in their step, leading 22-19 after the opening quarter. As the half wound down however, the Dinos began to take control of the game. A 10 -3 run to end the half put the visitors up 44-38 at recess.

The Horns attempted to keep pace with the Dinos, never allowing the Dinos to push their lead to double digits in the early going of the third quarter. In a finish similar to the end of the second quarter, the Dino closed out the quarter with another run to increase their lead to 16.

Calgary cruised though the fourth quarter to their first conference win since downing the Horns in Calgary Nov. 15.

Hannah Blanchette continued here strong play for the Horns, scoring a team high 19 points and also grabbing a team high 7 boards. Lauren Taal and freshman Sam Hornquist (Fernie, AB) each contributed with a 10 apiece.

While Hill was the major contributor for the Dinos, Courtney Coyle and Esther Graff each reached double digits with 11 and 10 respectively.

With the win, the Dinos improve to 7-8 but trail the Saskatchewan Huskies by three games for the coveted home court during the first round of the playoffs. The Horns fall to 2-13 with the loss.

The Horns and Dinos will complete their season series tomorrow night in Lethbridge, tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at the 1st Choice Savings Centre.
