Brett Ferguson tied a school record with three interceptions, all in the fourth quarter, as the University of Calgary Dinos snapped a five-game conference losing streak against the Alberta Golden Bears Saturday afternoon at McMahon Stadium.

A sophomore cornerback out of Lethbridge, Alta., Ferguson ran his first pick back 52 yards for the Dinos’ only touchdown of the afternoon, putting the game essentially out of reach for Alberta. His final interception came on the Dinos’ own four-yard line, snuffing out a late Alberta drive.

Ferguson added two solo tackles to his three-interception performance, returning those three picks for a total of 83 yards. It is just the fifth time in UC history that a player has recorded three interceptions in a game – the last being Sept. 9, 2006 when Drew Carpenter, now an assistant DB coach for the Dinos, hauled down three picks against the Golden Bears. In fact, four of Calgary’s five three-interception games by a single player have come against Alberta.
