Sophomore breaststroker Jason Block was in top form on the weekend, captaining the Dinos to their 13th CIS men’s swimming championship while sweeping the gold medals in the three breaststroke events.

The Calgary native opened the event with a first-place finish in the 100-metre breaststroke, winning by nearly two seconds and finishing 15 hundredths shy of the CIS record. A day later he was at it once again in the 200, again winning gold in a time of 2:10.07 – again by more than 1.75 seconds.

He wrapped up his sweep in the 50-metre event on Saturday, out-touching CIS Swimmer of the Year Colin Russell in a time of 27.56 to capture his third gold medal of the championships.

Block added a silver medal in the 4x100-metre relay as the Dinos regained the team title last won in 2008.
