Sophomore goaltender Dustin Butler turned in a pair of sparkling performances over the weekend to lead the Dinos to a sweep of the Regina Cougars with 5-2 and 2-1 wins at Father David Bauer Arena.

A second-year Social Sciences student who last toiled for the WHL’s Prince Albert Raiders, Butler stopped 23 shots in Friday’s 5-2 Calgary victory, but it was Saturday night where he shone brightest. He gave up just one goal on 31 shots despite facing eight Cougar power plays on the night and turned away 13 shots in the third period as Regina surged in search of the equalizer.

Butler and the Dinos successfully killed off a pair of two-man advantages in the third period to preserve the 2-1 victory.

Calgary (5-1-2) hosts the Saskatchewan Huskies (3-5-0) this weekend for a two-game set at Father David Bauer Arena.
