Ross Bekkering had a stellar weekend for the sixth-ranked University of Calgary Dinos men’s basketball squad, leading them to their second straight Central Division championship with a two-game sweep of the Alberta Golden Bears.

In Friday’s series opener, the 6’8” Taber, Alta. native shot the lights out, going 12-14 from the field and 5-8 from the stripe for 29 points while hauling down 13 big rebounds in Calgary’s 91-85 win – all in just 26 minutes on the floor. Saturday he was at it again, scoring 18 to lead the team and grabbing nine rebounds. He played 37 minutes Saturday, an 82-78 win that ended the Bears’ season, and he did not draw a single personal foul in the process.

After leading Canada West in field goal percentage in the regular season, Bekkering now leads the way in the post-season with a spectacular .783, while his 23.5 points per game is fourth-best in the conference.

The Dinos take on the Trinity Western Spartans in the conference semi-final Friday night at the Final Four in Vancouver, with the winner earning a trip to the CIS Final 8 at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa.
