The University of Calgary Dinos men’s soccer team made a little history Sunday, wrapping up their first-ever undefeated season at home with a 3-1 shocker over the first-place Alberta Golden Bears.

Rookie Brett Howard was right in the thick of things as the Dinos wrapped up a playoff spot by virtue of their two victories. Saturday against Saskatchewan, Howard scored in the 9th and 39th minutes – the second of which stood up as the game-winner – as the Dinos held off the Huskies with an important 3-1 win.

A day later, Howard scored less than 10 minutes into the second half what again turned out to be the game-winning goal as the Dinos handed the first-place Golden Bears just their second loss of the season.

The results mean the Dinos have clinched a playoff spot for the first time since 2006 and will look to improve their seeding for the post-season when they visit Fraser Valley and Victoria this weekend to close out the regular campaign.
