Troye Flannery was named head coach of the Dinos women's soccer team in April 2013.
Flannery was the first head coach since Robin Slot in 2005 to lead the Dinos to the U SPORTS National Championship after finishing with a Canada West bronze medal in 2015. This was just the third appearance on the national stage in the team's history, and they added national tournament berths in 2018 and 2019. Flannery led the Dinos to their second Canada West championship in 2019.
An alumnus of the Trinity Western University soccer program, Flannery came to the Dinos from the South West United Soccer Association, where he served as director of coach and player development. Formerly the technical director for soccer at National Sports Development, Flannery’s coaching pedigree also includes stints as head coach of the Mount Royal men’s team from 2005-07 and again from 2009-10.
He was associate head coach at Trinity Western from 2007-09 and has been a consultant for both the Spartans men’s and women’s teams at his alma mater since that time. Flannery has also coached at virtually all levels in the Calgary soccer community, from the U-13 age group through the major league level.
Flannery is a three-time West coach of the year in the United Women's Soccer league, adding national coach of the year honours in both 2018 and 2019. He was named the Canada West and U SPORTS coach of the year in 2018 after leading the Dinos to their best season on record (13-0-1), sparking a streak of 26 consecutive conference fixtures without a loss spanning the 2018 and 2019 seasons,
Flannery is the sixth head coach in the program’s history.
