Joe Murphy

Murphy was born and raised in Didsbury, Alta.

He played Junior hockey for the Olds Grizzlys of the AJHL where he was part of two league championships and one national championship. He then headed south to play at the University of Denver in the NCAA where he was the team captain for two season and part of a WCHA league championship. 

After four years in the NCAA, Murphy turned professional, palying for seven years. He played four years in the AHL, two of which were under contract with the Ottawa Senators. He took part in two NHL training camps and played five preseason games in 2001. 

He continued his professional career playing for the Frankfurt Lions in the German DEL, Lukka Rauma in Finaland in SM-LIIGA and Oji Egales in the Asian League in Japan. 

Murphy currently lives in Calgary with his wife Maggie.
