Rich Hesketh

Rich is the head coach of Strength and Conditioning for Dinos Athletics.

A graduate from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Physical Education and former track & field athlete, he brings a blend of academic and practical knowledge to the coaching ranks. Rich moved to Calgary in 1986 to train, was a Canadian National Track & Field team member for nine years and ranked in the top 3 Canadian decathletes from 1988-1996. Rich had the privilege to represent Canada on 11 different national teams, including two Francophone Games, two Commonwealth Games, and Pan American Games. He was the 1988 Canadian Decathlon Champion and four-time indoor combined events national champion. Rich also competed at four Canadian Olympic Trials, so he understands what it means to be at the top of your game for an extended time period.

Rich was the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Calgary Flames Hockey Club for 19 seasons, from 1995-2014. He also coached track and field for 17 years with the University of Calgary Dinos and the Calgary Spartans Track & Field Club and has worked with the Dinos basketball programs since 2011. He was the proud recipient of the Lou Goodwin Award in 2022.
