Storie heads back to U.K. signing with Newcastle Eagles

CALGARY – University of Calgary Dinos women's basketball forward Pollyanna Storie is heading back to the United Kingdom after signing a professional contract with the Newcastle Eagles.

Storie arrived at UCalgary after competing with the Caledonia Pride in the Women's British Basketball League and quickly established herself as a consistent contributor. Over five seasons with the Dinos, the Edinburgh, Scotland native appeared in 91 games, shooting 40.6 per cent from the field and 80.8 per cent from the free-throw line.

In her final season, Storie started all 20 regular season games and tied for the team lead in scoring at 12.1 points per game – a figure she shared with teammate Amélie Collin, who signed a professional contract in July.

Storie saved some of her best basketball for the post-season, helping the Dinos claim the 2026 Canada West title with a pair of memorable wins. Calgary upset the Saskatchewan Huskies in the semifinal, ending their run of more than 50 consecutive games without a loss, before taking down the UBC Thunderbirds in the final, where Storie scored 16 points and was named game MVP.

The Newcastle Eagles compete in the Women's Super League Basketball, the top tier of women's basketball in the United Kingdom, which launched in 2024 and features clubs from England, Wales and Scotland.
