CALGARY - The Calgary Dinos are set to host the 2027 Canada West cross country and wrestling championships, as well as the U SPORTS curling championships, the conference office announced Thursday.
The championship calendar begins in southern Alberta, where the University of Lethbridge will welcome the conference's top golfers to Paradise Canyon Golf Resort on Oct. 5 and 6. One of the province's premier courses, Paradise Canyon is known for its dramatic coulee setting and a challenging layout overlooking Lethbridge's Oldman River Valley.
The focus then shifts north to Calgary, where the Dinos will host the 2026 Canada West Cross Country Championships on the scenic campus of St. Mary's University on Oct. 31. The event will bring together the conference's top distance runners as they compete for team and individual titles while preparing for national championship competition.
Swimming takes centre stage later in the fall as the Victoria Vikes host the 2026 Canada West Swimming Championships from Nov. 27-29. The event returns to Vancouver Island for the first time since 2017 and will feature three days of racing between many of the nation's top university swimmers, including many Olympic hopefuls.
Once the calendar turns to 2027, the action heads back to Edmonton. The Alberta Golden Bears and Pandas will host the Canada West Curling Championships from Jan. 28 to 31, and will also host the Canada West Track and Field Championships on Feb. 19 and 20.
The Canada West Wrestling Championships will take place in between those two events, hosted by the University of Calgary on Feb. 12 and 13.
Looking ahead to the national stage, the University of Manitoba will host the U SPORTS Track and Field Championships for a second consecutive season from March 4-6, while the University of Calgary welcomes the nation's top curling programs from Feb. 22-26. McMaster University will host the 2026 U SPORTS Cross Country Championships in Hamilton, Ont. on Nov. 14.
