CALGARY – It may be the offseason for the University of Calgary Dinos men's soccer team, but head coach
Ramon Mifflin was back in the spotlight recently for earning a major coaching award.
Mifflin - who has led the Dinos to a 15-7-6 record in his first two years as head coach - was named the 2026 Bert Goldberg Award recipient, awarded by the Alberta Soccer Association at its Annual General Meeting.
The award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated technical leadership in an effort to enhance the reputation of soccer in Alberta. The recipient should lead or inspire others to improve the game of soccer from a regional, provincial, national or international perspective.
In addition to his strong start leading the Dinos, Mifflin also coached local club team Calgary Blizzard SC to a League1 title this past season. For their success, the team - comprised largely of Calgary Dinos players - earned a berth to the 2026 Telus Canadian Championship where they will open against CF Montreal of Major League Soccer (MLS). That game is scheduled for May 6 inside Montreal's Saputo Stadium.
