CALGARY – Erik Godwin of the University of Calgary Dinos has been named the Canada West BioSteel Men's Volleyball Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.

It was a massive start to the postseason for Godwin. After missing nearly a month due to injury, the long-time impact player for the Dinos once again made his presence known in a 2-1 series win over rival Mount Royal.

Godwin finished with 45 kills and hit .331 for the weekend - committing just eight errors on 112 swings. The program record holder for service aces continued to do what he does best with eight aces on the weekend to go with 21 digs and five blocks.

The Lethbridge, Alta., product shined brightest in Saturday's decisive Game 3. Playing in potentially his final game in the Scarlet & Gold, Godwin led the Dinos with 21 kills and hit .340 in a thrilling five-set win on their rival's home court.

Godwin and the Dinos now head to Vancouver where they will take on UBC in a Canada West quarterfinal best-of-three series, starting Thursday.
