For the first time since the programs' return to campus, both the Dinos men's and women's curling teams head to nationals this weekend, with a minimum of seven matches each over four days in Regina. The top-four teams from the round robin advance to Saturday's semifinals, with champions crowned Saturday afternoon.

The Dinos men grabbed plenty of headlines last month when they claimed their first Canada West banner since 1964. Calgary nearly went undefeated at the conference tournament, outscoring their competition 85-27 over their 10 matches.

Meanwhile, the Dinos women brought home the bronze medal at this year's CW Championship to earn their first berth to nationals since the program's revitalization. Calgary went 4-3 in the round robin and nearly pulled off the big win over Alberta in the semifinal before downing UBCO in the bronze-medal match to punch their ticket to the national championship.

The playoffs are here for the Dinos women's hockey team, as they get set to host Trinity Western for a best-of-three series at Father David Bauer Arena, starting Friday. Puck drop for Friday and Saturday's games is set for 7 p.m., while Sunday's game time would be 5 p.m., if necessary.

Calgary finished the regular season with a 16-7-5 overall record - just three points shy of the top spot in Canada West's East Division. The Dinos got off to a strong start thanks in large part to the play of their goalies. Veteran Amelia Awad was one of the best in the nation between the pipes all season long, while rookies Maisie Cope and Alyssa Barrette have made strong first impressions.

Trinity Western posted a 14-12-2 regular-season mark and finished third in the West Division - just one point behind Alberta. Kyra McDonald and Chloe Reid led the team with 19 points on the year, while Kara Yackel finished with a team-high nine goals.

One year after facing off six times, the Dinos and Spartans met just one weekend this season - a sweep for Calgary at FDB back in November. Sydney Mercier scored the game winner in OT in the opener before Calgary shutout then-ninth ranked TWU 2-0 in the finale. This will mark the first postseason meeting between the two programs.
Dinos Women's Basketball (16-4, 2-0)
Saturday, Feb. 21 | Calgary at Saskatchewan | Physical Activity Complex | 6:00 PM MT | Watch | Live Stats

The University of Calgary women's basketball team will look to punch its ticket to nationals this weekend as their playoff run has them in a Canada West semifinal on the road at No. 1 Saskatchewan. Tip time is set for 6 p.m. MT on Saturday.

After going 16-4 in the regular season, the Dinos are the No. 6 seed in this year's conference tournament. Calgary opened up with a 91-67 win over 11-seed Manitoba in a neutral site play-in game before suffocating host and third-seeded Trinity Western on Saturday in a 76-47 win. Defence has been the driving force for the Dinos all season, and that was no different in the first two playoff wins this past weekend.

The Huskies have been the No. 1 team in the nation all season long. They went a perfect 20-0 in the loaded Canada West Prairie Division in the regular season and boat raced UFV, 96-58, in the quarterfinals. Saskatchewan is the reigning U SPORTS champion and has claimed the past two conference crowns. Their last loss - regular or postseason - came back on both Nov. 1 and 2 when the Dinos swept them in the season-opening series in Calgary.

Calgary and Saskatchewan squared off for a weekend series just over a month ago, with the Huskies claiming both games on their home court. The two programs have met in the postseasons twice in recent years - with the Huskies winning a U SPORTS quarterfinal contest in Edmonton back in 2024 after squeaking out a win over the eighth-seeded Dinos in the conference quarterfinals back in 2022.

It's a Crowchild Classic rematch in the postseason as the Dinos men's volleyball stays close to home to open the 2026 Canada West playoffs, travelling to Mount Royal for a best-of-three series at Kenyon Court, starting Thursday.

Calgary heads into the postseason coming of a convincing sweep of Thompson Rivers to finish with an 8-12 record in Canada West play to finish as the No. 9 seed in this year's postseason under second-year head coach Graham Vigrass.

Mount Royal had its three-game win streak snapped this past weekend, winning just one set in a two-game sweep at Trinity Western. That gave them a 9-11 final conference ledger that saw them tie for seventh in the conference standings by settling for the No. 8 seed after losing the tiebreaker to Saskatchewan.

The two city rivals clashed just over one week ago, also on the MRU campus, with the Cougars winning both matches, 3-0. The Dinos were missing quite a few players in that series and expect to be much more back to its typical starting lineup coming into this weekend. The last time these two programs met in the postseason came back on Feb. 23-24, 2023 when No. 7 Calgary swept No. 2 Mount Royal at Kenyon Court.

It's a postseason rematch for the Dinos women's volleyball team as they once again travel to Winnipeg for a best-of-three series with the Wesmen from the Duckworth Centre, starting Thursday.

Calgary wrapped up the regular season with an 8-12 slate for the No. 9 seed in this year's conference tournament. Winnipeg won its final three matches of the regular season to vault up and tie the Dinos in the standings, earning the No. 8 seed and this weekend's home playoff series on a tiebreaker.

It's a familiar situation for both programs, as the Wesmen hosted the Dinos for a CW play-in series almost exactly one year to the date earlier than Thursday's first serve. Winnipeg claimed that series, 2-0.

The two teams also battled earlier this regular season, with the Wesmen convincingly sweeping Friday's opener before Calgary responded with an emphatic sweep of their own in the Saturday rematch.

In a scheduling oddity, the Dinos will now have gone head-to-head with Winnipeg on the road in each of the last four series dating back to February of 2024. The last time the Wesmen traveled to Calgary was January 13-14, 2023.

The Dinos men's hockey team is set for playoff hockey, heading up to Edmonton for a Canada West quarterfinal best-of-three series with MacEwan, starting Friday. All three games have a 7 p.m. scheduled start time from the Downtown Community Arena.

Calgary just missed hosting a playoff series after finishing the regular season with a 19-8-1 record. That was good for 39 points in the East Divsion - just one behind Saskatchewan and three behind Mount Royal in the top-heavy five-team division. They started the season as one of the hottest teams in the country at 15-2 before closing out the regular season with a weekend sweep at home to snap a six-game skid.

MacEwan posted its best record since joining Canada West in 2021, going 12-11-5 in the regular season for 29 points and second place in the West Division. This marks the first home postseason series for the Griffins, welcoming the Dinos to their home ice.

The Dinos and Griffins played each other just two times this regular season, with the Dinos winning both by a combined score of 9-4. Calgary is 14-1 all-time in conference games against MacEwan but they have surrendered the first goal in games against the Griffins each of the last seven times, coming back to win six of those.

The Dinos track & field teams are off to the 2026 Canada West Championships, hosted this year by Saskatchewan. Competition begins Friday at 10 a.m. MT, with team champions set to be crowned Saturday afternoon inside the Saskatoon Field House.

Calgary comes into this year's meet with loads of success so far this season, earning them national rankings on both sides. In the final U SPORTS top 10 of the regular season, the Dinos women are slotted fourth, while the men are sixth. A season ago, the Dinos women brought home the conference silver medal, while the men finished sixth.

Of the 166 total Canada West championships in Calgary Dinos history, 16 have been claimed by the track & field teams - 11 by the women and five by the men. The most recent came back in 2020 when the men earned the team trophy in Edmonton. The women's most recent team title took place back in 2013.
