The winter championship season is in full swing this weekend, headlined by two conference banners up for grabs as the University of Calgary Dinos wrestling teams are off to Edmonton for the 2026 Canada West Championships Saturday.
Calgary kicks things off at 10 a.m. against Saskatchewan. Round two pits the Dinos against host Alberta at 1 p.m. before finishing things off against Lethbridge at 3 p.m.
The Dinos women are looking for their third conference title in a row after finishing 10 points ahead of second place a season ago in claiming their 13th banner in program history.
Meanwhile, Calgary's men's team is looking for its sixth conference title in program history, last raising the banner in 2003.

Fresh off a commanding home sweep of city rival Mount Royal, the Dinos women's hoops team is set for postseason play. They will open up in a Canada West Play-In game Friday against Manitoba in Langley, B.C. at 1 p.m. MT. Should they win that game against the Bisons, the Dinos would advance to take on host Trinity Western in a quarterfinal Saturday night at 9 p.m. MT.
Calgary finished the regular season with an impressive 16-4 ledger, but the Canada West Prairie Division proved to be the deepest in all of U SPORTS as the Dinos had to settle for third place in the standings and will hit the road once again to start postseason play.
The opening round sees the Dinos once again go up against Manitoba. The two teams met in the same playoff round a season ago, where Calgary cruised to an 89-64 win in Abbotsford, B.C. This year, the Dinos swept the Bisons in Winnipeg to close out the first semester, with the average margin of victory in the two games sitting at 23 points.
Should Calgary advance in Friday's contest, they will go up against Trinity Western Saturday night. The Spartans finished as the No. 2 seed in the Pacific Division with a 15-5 record. The Dinos and Spartans have not played a conference game against each other in over two years when Calgary won a pair at home. All-time, the Dinos hold a 25-2 mark against TWU in conference play dating back to 1999.

Postseason action is here for the Dinos men's basketball team, too, as they travel to Winnipeg for a play-in game against Thompson Rivers Friday at 2 p.m. MT. The winner will go up against top-seeded Winnipeg Saturday at 1 p.m. MT.
The reigning Canada West champions will have a different path to take this year if they plan to defend their title. The Dinos finished the regular season with a 12-8 record and will be the No. 9 seed when they go up against No. 8 TRU. The WolfPack also went 12-8 against almost exclusively teams in the Pacific Division to finished fourth. Head coach Dan Vanhooren's squads are 14-3 in league games against Thompson Rivers all time, most recently sweeping a weekend home series back in January of 2024.`
Should Calgary advance to Saturday's quarterfinal, they will take on No. 1 seed Winnipeg. The Wesmen posted a 16-4 mark in the regular season and have lost just one time in the new year. The Dinos and Wesmen already met twice this season, with Winnipeg claiming both games on Calgary's home floor - winning the opener by two and the second game by 17.

Saturday, Feb. 7 | Calgary vs. Thompson Rivers | Jack Simpson Gym | 4:00 PM | Watch | Live Stats
The final home weekend of the regular season is here for the Dinos women's volleyball team (8-10) as they get set for a big showdown against Thompson Rivers (12-6). Both Friday's opener at 7:45 p.m. and Saturday's rematch at 4 p.m. will take place inside the Jack Simpson Gym.
It's a big weekend for the Dinos, as they look to shore up their playoff positioning with these final two home games. Calgary heads into the weekend with an 8-10 slate after convincingly dispatching Mount Royal both times last weekend. Calgary could potentially climb as high as seventh in the standings or could fall to 10th in the always-competitive Canada West.
Meanwhile, Thompson Rivers comes to campus looking to finish on a strong note going into postseason play. The WolfPack got off to a blistering 11-2 start to the season before cooling off against a number of top-10 opponents down the stretch.
Calgary and TRU haven't seen each other extensively in recent league calendars, with the two teams splitting a weekend set in Kamloops back in October of 2023 for their last conference meeting. The two programs did meet back in September of this year in a preseason game in Langley, with the WolfPack claiming a 3-1 win in that one.

Saturday, Feb. 14 | Calgary vs. Thompson Rivers | Jack Simpson Gym | 5:45 PM | Watch | Live Stats
The playoffs have essentially started for the Dinos men's volleyball team (6-12) as they will host Thompson Rivers (6-12) in a battle for the final berth into this year's Canada West postseason. The two teams will face off against each other twice inside the Jack Simpson Gym this weekend, starting Friday at 6 p.m. before Saturday's rematch at 5:45 p.m. following the women's game.
Calgary is looking to get out of a recent funk. Less than a month ago, the Dinos swept then-No. 3 Alberta to move to 6-8 on the year. Since then, they have won just one set and have dropped four in a row and have now essentially set up a winner-take-all battle with TRU this weekend.
The WolfPack come to Calgary also with a 6-12 mark on the year, owning weekend sweeps over MacEwan, UFV and Manitoba. If the season ended today, TRU would claim the final playoff spot as they have a 19-18 edge in points - an international scoring system that awards points based on the number of sets earned by each team in a given match.
The Dinos and WolfPack have not played against each other since an October weekend series back in 2023, which saw the two teams split in Kamloops. In conference play, Calgary holds a 22-8 edge in the all-time series.

It's Senior Day this weekend for the Dinos men's hockey team as they look to snap their losing skid and head into the postseason on a strong note, hosting Manitoba Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 3 p.m. inside Father David Bauer Arena.
After a 15-2 start to the regular season, Calgary's magical season has hit a bit of a snag, going just 2-7 since. The Dinos head into the final weekend with 35 points. They can still catch Mount Royal for the second spot in the division, as MRU heads into the weekend with 38 points and taking on division-leading Saskatchewan (40 points) this weekend.
Manitoba comes to campus with a 12-12-2 ledger, though they do have six wins in their 10 games since the start of the new year.
The Dinos have had the Bisons number of late, claiming the last 14 conference games - the longest win streak by either team in the long-tenured series history dating back to at least the mid-1980s. The two teams have already met four times this season in Winnipeg, with Calgary posting wins of 4-0, 5-4. 4-0 and 5-3.

With a home playoff series already locked up, the Dinos women's hockey team is looking to close the regular season on a high note as they hit the road to take on Manitoba for two games in Winnipeg. Friday's opener is set for a 6 p.m. MT start, while Saturday's regular season finale will have a 1 p.m. MT puck drop.
The Dinos have been playing some of their best hockey of the year over the past few weeks, posting a 5-3 record with just one lopsided loss on that ledger since the new year. Calgary heads into the weekend with 36 points - just two back of Mount Royal. The Dinos and Cougars are going up against Manitoba and Saskatchewan, respectively, who are both tied in the standings with 28 points for the third and final playoff spot in the division going into the final weekend.
Calgary has won the last four in the series, all taking place this weekend on home ice. The Dinos have posted wins of 3-0, 5-2, 2-0, and 4-1 over the Bisons this season
