Dinos name panellists for first Women in Sport Scholarship Breakfast

CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos have announced an accomplished lineup of panellists for the inaugural Women in Sport Scholarship Breakfast, set for Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, at Hudson in downtown Calgary.

The breakfast will feature a panel of prominent leaders from sport, business, research, and community development, bringing together student-athletes, coaches, alumni, and supporters to celebrate excellence in women's sport and advance scholarship opportunities for women competing as Dinos.

Panellists:

Tamara Jarrett, Elements Athletics
A former Dinos women's basketball standout from 2009-14 and Canada West Defensive Player of the Year in 2013, Jarrett has remained deeply involved in sport as a coach and referee. She is the co-founder of Elements Athletics and creator of Mic'd Up, a wearable microphone that records and analyses in-game audio. With support from UCalgary's UCeed Social Impact Fund, Mic'd Up's goal is to hold players accountable and help referees feel safer on the court.

Dr. Tara-Leigh McHugh, University of Calgary
Recently appointed Canada Research Chair in Gender Equity in Sport and Physical Activity, McHugh is a recent addition to UCalgary's Faculty of Kinesiology. Her research focuses on the psychosocial factors that shape the experiences of women and girls in sport, and she hopes to build a formal network in Canada focused on gender equity in sport and clear evidence of policy and practice changes that improve equitable participation for women and girls.

Dr. Marilyn McNeil, Dinos Hall of Fame
A member of the Dinos Hall of Fame Class of 2026, McNeil recently concluded a distinguished 53-year career in collegiate athletics. A former U SPORTS national coach of the year in women's basketball, she went on to serve as a coach and athletic director in the NCAA, including a 28-year tenure at Monmouth University. A long-time advocate for gender equity, McNeil also served five years on the NCAA women's basketball committee.

Lara Murphy, Calgary Wild FC
Murphy is the CEO of Calgary Wild FC, Alberta's only professional women's sport franchise, which recently completed its inaugural season in the Northern Super League. She is also the owner of Ryan Murphy construction, the only female-owned commercial construction company in Calgary. Deeply committed to community impact, she serves on the boards of YW Calgary, SAIT, the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, and YYC, and is a vocal supporter of equity, authenticity, and opportunity for women and young entrepreneurs.

Sue Riddell Rose, Rubellite Energy
President and CEO of Rubellite Energy, Riddell Rose brings more than 35 years of leadership experience in Alberta's energy sector and an equal commitment to serving her community. She is actively involved with organizations including UNICEF Canada, United Way, and Canada Powered by Women. She was recognized with the 2023 Calgary Influential Women in Business Lifetime Achievement Award.

The panel will be moderated by Cami Kepke, winner of the 2023 U SPORTS Fred Sgambati Media Award. Kepke is Manager of Community Engagement and Content with the Western Hockey League and a longtime broadcaster and storyteller within university sport. She will also host the Dinos Hall of Fame induction ceremony later that evening.

Proceeds from the Women in Sport Scholarship Breakfast will support the Dinos Women in Sport Scholarship Fund, helping student-athletes pursue academic and athletic excellence without financial compromise.
