KELOWNA, B.C. –
Efe Udolu-Joshua netted a hat trick barely 30 minutes into the game as the Calgary Dinos men's soccer team erupted for a 6-1 win over UBC Okanagan from Nonis Sports Field Friday evening.
With the win, the Dinos move to 4-2-0 on the year, while UBCO drops to 0-4-1.
Udolu-Joshua quickly got Calgary on the board with his first of the season in just the eighth minute, finishing off a loose ball in the box after a corner kick from
James Greco-Taylor.
The second-year forward struck again in the 25th with a tap-in goal to make it 2-0. The play started on a perfect through ball from
Owen Antoniuk to
Soliman Aria. Aria got behind the defence and, with the opposing keeper quickly charging, unselfishly one-timed the ball to Udolu-Joshua for the easy finish.
Aria was rewarded with a goal of his own just five minutes later on a nice finish inside the box, before Udolu-Joshua once again one-timed home a lead feed this time from
William Omoreniye to complete the hat trick before halftime and put Calgary ahead 4-0 in just the 34th minute.
The home team would get one back before the break, but
Victor Gouttin netted his first of the year in the 62nd and Antoniuk tallied his sixth in the 78th to close out the scoring.
In all, the Dinos finished the night with a 22-11 edge in shots and a 12-5 advantage in shots on goal.
Hany Shafie stopped four shots on the night for Calgary.
The Dinos finished their weekend trip out west Saturday with 6:30 p.m. MT game at Thompson Rivers.
