Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Dinos Communications

Batty ties program record in season-opening win

REGINABrooke Batty tied the program record with four goals in a single game as the Calgary Dinos women's soccer team scored four goals in an eight-minute span just before halftime to cruise to a 6-0 win over Regina in Saturday's conference opener from the University of Regina Field.

Batty - who played in just six games as a rookie a season ago and attempted just one shot in 147 minutes of action - got her sophomore season off in roaring fashion. The local product found the back of the net on all four of the shots she attempted, tying the Dinos program record with four goals in a game that was previously set by Morena Ianniello in 2007 and equalled by Mollee Ramsay in 2016.

Despite dominating possession early, the game remained scoreless until the 35th minute when Grace Moore got things going with the first goal of the conference season for the Scarlet & Gold.

Just over three minutes later, the Brooke Batty show started. The second-year forward scored unassisted at the 37:41 mark, before tallying her second just 37 seconds later with 38:18 on the clock and just like that Calgary led 3-0.

Batty would make it a first-half hat trick at the 42:49 mark to blow the doors off this one just before halftime.

She wasn't done there, however, as Batty finished off a feed from Sarah Donick just three minutes after half to make it 5-0 and notch her fourth of the game in just over a 10-minute span.

Fans hoping to see history would have to wait as Batty was subbed off shortly after as the Dinos coasted the rest of the way. Isabella DiPalma tallied her first of the season late to wrap up the scoring.

Calgary finished with a 15-4 edge in shots and a 10-2 margin in shots on goal.

Anna Demarbre recorded the clean sheet in net for the Dinos, making a pair of saves.

Up next, Calgary finishes up the opening road trip with a 2:30 p.m. contest Sunday against Saskatchewan.
