Dinos suffer first loss at U SPORTS Championship

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. – The Calgary Dinos men's curling team suffered its first losses of the tournament at the 2025 U SPORTS / Curling Canada Championships Wednesday, dropping a tight decision to UNB, 4-6, in the early going before a late four-spot gave Memorial an 8-4 win over Calgary from the Lethbridge Curling Club.

Through three days and five games, the Dinos sit at 3-2 and in a log-jammed four-way tie for second in the eight-team round robin, with opening action set to wrap up Thursday afternoon.

Wednesday opened with a back-and-forth showdown with New Brunswick. The Dinos jumped out of the gates and stole one on the first end, but UNB answered back with a pair in the second to take the lead. After a blank third, Calgary tied things up in the fourth. The two teams then traded two spots in the next three rounds, giving the the Reds the 6-4 edge after seven ends to close things out.

The nightcap also featured big swings in action. Memorial opened with one, but the Dinos immediately counted with two in the second before stealing one in the third for a 3-1 edge. The Seahawks managed to score three in the fourth to suddenly retake the lead, 4-3. Calgary leveled things up in the sixth with one, but Memorial made some clutch shots down the stretch to land four in the seventh for the win.

Calgary has two matches remaining in the round robin, both scheduled for Thursday. The opening contest is set for 8:30 a.m. against Laurier before closing pool play against Carleton at 4:30
