Late push gives Dinos big opening win at nationals

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. – Thanks to a big finish, the Calgary Dinos men's curling team powered to an 8-3 win over Brock University Monday night in the opening match at the 2025 U SPORTS Curling Canada Championships inside the Lethbridge Curling Club.

After two open ends to start things, the Badgers were the first on the board with one in the third to claim the first lead.

Calgary immediately answered back. Playing with the hammer, the Dinos scored a pair in the fourth to go ahead 2-1 before stealing a pair in the fifth for a quick 4-1 lead.

Brock did their best to get back into this one by scoring two of their own in the sixth to close the gap back to one, but the Dinos put this to bed with a four spot in the seventh for the decisive win.

The opening four days of round-robin action continues Tuesday with a pair of games for Calgary, starting at 12:30 against the host Pronghorns before going up against Regina in a rematch of the Canada West Championship at 8:30 p.m.
