The Dinos outscoring the Cougars 55-36 after the break and broke the century mark for the fourth time this season.
With the win, Calgary moves to 15-4 and stays in a three-way tie with Winnipeg and Manitoba atop the Canada West Prairie Division standings heading into the final game of the 2024-25 regular season. It was a hot-shooting first half for the Cougars, as they connected on 11-20 field goal attempts in the first quarter and 11-19 in the second to build a 48-46 lead after one.
It could have been worse for the Dinos, but
Nate Petrone had the hot hand early – especially in the second quarter – as the All-Canadian had 18 points at the break, with 12 coming in the second period.
While it was Petrone in the first half, it was seemingly the entirety of the rest of the Dinos' roster in the second as the offense was clicking after the break – shooting a whopping 63.6 percent (21-33) over the final 20 minutes.
Daniels Baumanis hit a three with 5:17 left in the third to give Calgary its first lead since early in the second. After a Regina bucket,
Aidan Smith tallied one of his 14 points and the Dinos would lead the rest of the way.
Petrone was one of five Dinos scoring in double figures in this one, leading all players with a game-high 27 points of 12-18 shooting.
Noah Wharton added 18 points and six assists. Smith netted 14, while
Declan Peterson and
Martynas Sabaliauskas each finished with 12 points and combined for 14 boards.
