LANGLEY, B.C. – One night after a 6-0 shutout win, the Dinos continued their assault with an 8-2 win over Trinity Western Saturday night from the Aldergrove Community Centre.
The eight goals were scored by eight different Dinos, with 11 different players tallying at least one point on the night for Calgary.
The win is the seventh in a row for
Mark Howell's squad, as they improve to 12-2 on the year at the midway point of the conference calendar.
It was a relatively even first period until things unraveled for the Spartans in the closing seconds when
Mack Stewart scored the opening goal just six seconds before the first intermission. A mere two seconds later, TWU was assessed a four-minute penalty that would carry into the second.
The Dinos more than capitalized with the extra man, as
Sean Strange and
Jake Poole both scored on the power play to suddenly make it 3-0 just 2:18 into the second.
Connor Horning continued his hot streak with his fifth goal in the last seven games before
Brendan Lee scored his third of the season to make it 5-0 after two.
Rookies
Kaiden Bugera and
Pavel Bocharov each tallied their first career U SPORTS goals in the third, with
Davis Fry netting his second to close out the scoring for the Dinos.
Jonathan Krahn ended the shutout for TWU midway through the third, before Mikhailo Simchuk also got on the scoresheet for the Spartans.
Carl Tetachuk picked up the win in net for the Dinos, making 21 saves, while Cole Savage turned away 30 shots by Calgary.
Up next, the Dinos head to Winnipeg this coming weekend to take on Manitoba for two games inside Wayne Fleming Arena.
