CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos men's hockey team will open and close the upcoming season with a rematch of last year's Canada West Championship against UBC, the conference office announced Tuesday with the complete unveiling of the 2024-25 schedule.
This year's schedule will follow the format changes announced by the conference last October. Both men's and women's hockey will now feature two divisions consisting of four and five teams each, with the divisions rotating through nine teams over six years. Games will be played both in and out of division. This year will see TWU, UBC, Calgary and Mount Royal make up one division, while Alberta, MacEwan, Saskatchewan, Regina and Manitoba will comprise the other.
The regular season starts in Vancouver with two games against UBC Oct. 4-5. Calgary is then home for five of its next six contests, hosting Saskatchewan (Oct. 11-12) and Trinity Western (Oct. 25-26) with a home-and-home series with Mount Royal sandwiched in between.
November opens up on the road, heading to Regina (8-9) and UBC (15-16) before closing out the first semester at Father David Bauer Arena with home series against Manitoba (22-23) and Trinity Western (29-30).
A pair of home-and-home rivalry series start the New Year, first taking on Mount Royal (Jan. 3-4) before the Battle of Alberta (Jan. 10-11). After a week off, the Dinos head west to take on TWU (Jan. 24-25) before the third and final installment of the Crowchild Classic one week later.
Calgary closes out the regular season with a home-and-home series against MacEwan (Feb. 7-8) before hosting UBC (Feb. 14-15).
The top three teams in each division advance to the playoffs, with the top seed in each division receiving a first-round bye. The best-of-three quarterfinal round will take place Feb. 21 to 23 and will see East #2 host West #3 and West #2 host East #3. Semifinals will follow Feb. 28 to March 2.
The 2025 U SPORTS national championships are headed east, with Ottawa welcoming the men's championship from March 20-23.
