CALGARY –
Colson Gengenbach of the Calgary Dinos men's hockey team has been named the Canada West Men's Hockey Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The award is the first of his career for Gengenbach.
Calgary got its 2024-25 campaign off to a red-hot start on the road this weekend, in large part to the play of Gengenbach. The fourth-year forward scored his first of the season in game no. 1, helping the Dinos to a 4-3 shootout win over UBC in a rematch of last year's Canada West Championship.
Just one day later, Gengenbach was simply dominant. The All-Canadian scored two goals on just two shots while adding a pair of assists for his first career four-point game.
The fourth-ranked Dinos now turn their attention to their home opener this weekend, welcoming Saskatchewan to campus for a weekend series at Father David Bauer Arena, starting Friday at 7 p.m.
