Dinos sweep home-and-home with 'Horns

Lethbridge, Alta. – The University of Calgary Dinos women's soccer team scored three goals in the first half to cruise to a 3-0 result and their second win in as many nights over the Lethbridge Pronghorns.

Following a 7-0 win on their home field on Friday, the Dinos travelled to Lethbridge on Saturday, where they earned their 10th victory of the year. Calgary maintains their position atop the Prairie Division with a 10-1-1 record, while Lethbridge falls to 2-10-0.

Both teams had chances to score early. Four minutes in, a shot by Kiandra Boulter sailed just wide of the Dinos' net. Moments later, a Calgary corner kick led to a scoring chance for Jayden Berg, but Pronghorns goalkeeper Heidi Andres made the save.

The Dinos broke through in the 16th minute. Jaden Tomaszewski received the ball and danced by two Lethbridge defenders before firing a shot on goal. Andres got her hands on the ball, but it wasn't enough to stop the potent shot.

Coming off a three-goal effort on Friday, Grace Moore extended the Dinos' lead in the 31st minute with her Canada West best 12th tally of the season.

Team captain Rachel Barlow capitalized on a penalty, calmly slotting the ball into the right side of the net to give the Dinos a 3-0 edge at halftime.

Lethbridge looked to climb back into the game with a couple of early second-half shot attempts, but opportunities by Rylie Mooney and Nicola Hutton were put high.

Andres stopped eight of the 11 shots she faced, while Katie French maintained a clean sheet with two saves.

The Dinos and Pronghorns will face the same opponents during the final weekend of the regular season. Calgary will begin with a matchup versus the Alberta Pandas, while Lethbridge will host the MacEwan Griffins on Saturday, Oct. 19.
