Déjà vu: Dinos down Bisons 5-1

WINNIPEG - The Calgary Dinos put on an offensive clinic with a 5-1 win over the Manitoba Bisons on Saturday afternoon at Wayne Fleming Arena.

The Dinos proved too much for Manitoba's defence as they controlled the game from start to finish.

Calgary jumped out to an early lead after a barrage of shots while the Bisons were on their heels.

One night after being held scoreless for over 30 minutes in Friday's win, the Dinos wasted no time on Saturday. Rookie Adam Kydd netted his ninth goal of the season less than five minutes in to quickly make it 1-0.

The Dinos doubled their lead when Kydd setup Jake Poole for an easy tap in.

But the visitors weren't finished yet. Max Patterson found himself open in front of goal and guided in a Jake Gricius pass on the power play to put their team up 3-0 in the opening 15 minutes.

The offence continued to surge early in the second period for Calgary. Connor Gutenberg potted his fourth goal of the season and the Dinos' fourth goal of the game less than a minute into the second frame.

However Manitoba wasn't down and out. Dylan Thiessen set up Parker Malchuk who threaded a shot through the defence to put the Bisons on the board for the first time of the game.

Kolby Thorton was forced into action many times during the third period, facing nearly 40 shots halfway through.

Another goal came Calgary's way just shy of their 40th shot to make the score 5-1 in their favour. Colson Gengenbach finessed his way around Thorton for his third goal of the weekend.

Up next is one of the premier games of the U SPORTS calendar, as the Dinos get set for the annual Crowchild Classic Wednesday afternoon inside the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Manitoba travels to Langley next week to take on the Trinity Western Spartans.
