Dinos bounce back to earn split out west

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – Runs in the early parts of the second and third quarters proved to be the difference as the UFV Cascades dropped a 90-76 decision to the Calgary Dinos on Saturday at the UFV Athletic Centre.

The Cascades led by two at the end of the first, but a 19-8 run at the start of the second gave the Dinos a 38-29 advantage midway into the second frame.

The Dinos started the third quarter with a 10-2 run to make it 59-46 just over three minutes into the second half. Calgary would lead by as many as 17 in the this one on their way to the convincing 90-76 win.

Mason Foreman had a dominant performance for the Dinos, putting up a game-high 29 points and three steals, while also picking up seven boards. Noah Wharton turned in his best performance of the season with 23 points on 8-12 shooting, including going 4-6 from behind the arc. Ezeoha Santiago also scored in double figures with 19 points, while Spencer Roberts hauled in a team-high eight rebounds.

Matthias Klim led the way at both ends of the court for the Cascades. The second year forward scored a season-high 14 points, while adding nine rebounds, and adding four blocked shots.

The loss drops the Cascades to 5-7 on the season, while the Dinos improve to 6-8 with the win.

Next up for Calgary is a weekend set at home against the Saskatchewan Huskies, while the Cascades will play host to the TRU WolfPack next Friday and Saturday in Abbotsford.
