Dinos ready for battles on the turf

| By:
CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos women's rugby team will play their season out of McMahon Stadium this year as they gear up to host the Canada West Championship next month.

The campaign opens with a matchup against their Southern Alberta rival, the Lethbridge Pronghorns. The action gets underway at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

PATH TO RECLAIM THE THRONE
After almost two years of waiting, the Dinos are ready to take on the field in a season where they hope to reclaim the Canada West title. After a strong regular season in 2019 finishing first in the conference, the Dinos fell in the Canada West final – missing out on a chance at four consecutive championships. The team qualified for nationals where they finished in seventh. The Dinos hit the field at McMahon Stadium this season where they won their 2017 Canada West championship.

VETERAN EXPERIENCE
The Dinos boasts a well-rounded and dynamic group with both youth and experience. With 13 players returning from that 2019 season, they look to take that experience to push them to the next level. The team has handed its leadership to Alyson MacDougall and Berlyn Seselja who will be team captains in 2021.

STAR POWERED BACKS
Led by two former First Team All-Canadians in Seselja and Taejah Thompson, this Dinos backline is armed with skill and speed. Berlyn was an All-Canadian her previous two years of play, while Taejah was an All-Canadian in 2018 before missing 2019 due to injury.
