CALGARY – Emma Kary and Rylee Semeniuk combined to score 46 points for the University of Alberta Pandas as they defeated the University of Calgary Dinos 90-47 on Friday night at the Jack Simpson Gym.
In a matchup between two U SPORTS Top 10 teams, the Pandas remain unbeaten and improve to 5-0, while the Dinos drop to 3-2 on the season.
"Obviously that is not the fight we wish to display whilst representing the University of Calgary," said Dinos head coach Damian Jennings. "I have no doubt we will respond."
Alberta pulled away on Friday with some sharpshooting in the second quarter – turning a four-point lead into a 21-point advantage by halftime.
Besides the scoring duo of Kary and Semeniuk, the Pandas also got strong contributions from Mackenzie Cook and Claire Signatovich, who posted 12 and 10 points respectively.
On a difficult night shooting, the Dinos were led offensively by Sydney Milum with eight points, followed by six-point efforts from Kamryn Deklerk, Lily Pink, and Veronika Lavergne.
The Dinos and Pandas hit the floor again on Saturday night from the Jack Simpson Gym with a 5 p.m. start time.
