T-Birds score 22 unanswered points to top Dinos

VANCOUVER – The defending Canada West championship UBC Thunderbirds overcome an early deficit to defeat the University of Calgary Dinos 39-20 at the Gerald McGavin UBC Rugby Centre on Sunday afternoon.

The 'Birds improve to 3-0 atop the conference standings while Calgary falls to 1-2 with three weeks remaining in the regular season.  
 
Savannah Bauder was impressive yet again for UBC with three tries and two conversions, while Piper Logan added two tries, and Rori Wood and Emmy Baker each scored a try. Taejah Thompson scored two tries and a conversion for the Dinos, while Callie Eagleton's try got Calgary on the board in the 5th minute as the Dinos led 20-17 at the half. 
 
The 'Birds took over in the second half – scoring 22 unanswered points, thanks to two Logan tries and two Bauder tries, while keeping the Dinos off the scoreboard.

Next up for the Thunderbirds is a tough test against the second-place Lethbridge Pronghorns on Oct. 14 at the Gerald McGavin UBC Rugby Centre, while the Dinos are on the road to face the Pronghorns on Oct. 8.
