CALGARY – After a tough start to the 2019 campaign, the University of Calgary Dinos will look to bounce back on their home field with a two game set against the University of Lightbridge Pronghorns and the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.
The Dinos will be up against the Pronghorns first Saturday Aug. 31, then will host the Huskies on Sunday Sep. 1, with both games kicking off at 6 p.m.
HOME FIELD
The Dinos will play their first night games on campus in decades this weekend, with 6 p.m. starts under the lights on Dinosaur Field, just west of the Olympic Oval. Sunday's match caps off UCalgary's annual residence move-in, with food and beverage service at the field and the first 200 fans receiving free Dinos sunglasses.
MONKEY OFF THEIR BACK
Calgary is still looking to crack the score sheet for the first time this season after being shut out last weekend against the Mount Royal Cougars. They had a number of opportunities last week, with 10 total shots in the game including five on target, and will look to break through this weekend.
Dominik Zuczek led the team in shots last weekend with three in total and two on goal.
DEFENSIVE FOCUS
If the Dinos are to have a successful weekend, they will need to tighten up on the defensive end. They gave up 18 total shots last weekend to the Cougars, and if it were not for goalkeeper
Jake Ruschkowski making 10 saves, the score could have been even more lopsided.
CONTINUED DOMINANCE
Luckily for the Dinos, they will open this weekend against the Pronghorns who they have had a tremendous amount of success against over the past few years. The Dinos are 9-1 against the Pronghorns over their past 10 home games, including a 3-0 win last season.
