‘Herd rolls in to face top-seeded Dinos

| By:
CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos women's volleyball team prepares for the playoffs after grabbing the top seed after the Canada West regular season. The Dinos will facing the University of Manitoba Bisons in a best-of-three quarter-final series, beginning Thursday afternoon in the Jack Simpson Gym.

LAST WEEK
The No. 1-seeded Dinos hold a 19-5 record after sweeping the UBC Thunderbirds to wrap up regular season play. That sweep, combined with Manitoba's upset win over Trinity Western Friday, put the Dinos in as the top seed in Canada West for the second straight year.

PATH TO EDMONTON?
Canada West owns three berths at this year's U SPORTS Championship in Edmonton, in addition to the host spot held by the University of Alberta. If Alberta wins its quarter-final series this weekend at home against Thompson Rivers, the remaining three quarter-final winners will also book a trip to the national championship.

BISONS ON A ROLL
Since dropping a pair of 3-0 matches to the Dinos back on Nov. 23-24, Manitoba has reeled off nine wins in 14 matches – including the biggest of them all, an epic five-setter last Friday night at Trinity Western. In addition to securing top spot for the Dinos, that result is what got Manitoba into a playoff position in a three-way tie with Mount Royal and MacEwan.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Cassie Bujan from the Manitoba Bisons is number one in digs in Canada West with 448, while Calgary's Kennedy Snape finished third with 386 digs. Manitoba's Kelsey Jordan is one position ahead of Calgary's Leah Shevkenek on assists per set with 9.13 and 8.91, respectively.
