CALGARY – After sweeping the UBC Thunderbirds last weekend in Vancouver the University of Calgary Dinos men's basketball team looks to keep the momentum going as they take on the Brandon Bobcats in their home opener weekend at the Jack Simpson Gym.

The Dinos will square off against the Bobcats on both Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 17 at 4 p.m.

ABOUT LAST WEEKEND
The Dinos started off the regular season in thrilling fashion last weekend as they took on the UBC Thunderbirds at War Memorial Gym in Vancouver. In Game 1 it was first-year Dino Noah Wharton scoring with 1.8 seconds remaining to seal the win for the Dinos 81-79. Fourth-year Brett Layton led the charge in the Saturday rematch for the Dinos with 19 points and 14 boards in an 80-70 win over the Thunderbirds.

HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
The Jack Simpson Gym has become one of the hardest courts to play at in Canada West. As part of the Dinos' undefeated run through the conference last season, Calgary won 16 games at home and haven't lost at the Jack since a 92-79 defeat to the Alberta Golden Bears on Jan. 4, 2018. The Dinos haven't lost at home to the Bobcats since Nov. 29, 2013.

QUOTABLE
Head coach Dan Vanhooren's Dinos saw the addition of nine new recruits this season and will be relying on a mix of old and new talent to maintain their position at the top of the conference.

"We are pleased with where we are at in the process of developing our young team. We have a good mix of veteran play combined with some young talent. (We are) looking forward to continuing to improve each game."
