Horns final test before postseason

| By:
CALGARY – There's just one game left on the Canada West rugby regular season schedule, and the semifinal pairings for next week's Canada West championship are dependent on its result.

The University of Calgary Dinos, currently first with 19 points and a 4-1 record, host the Lethbridge Pronghorns Friday afternoon, looking to wrap up first place in Canada West for the sixth consecutive season. Kickoff is at 4 p.m. on Encana Field at Shouldice Park.

UP FOR GRABS
With a 4-1 record and 19 points through five games, the Dinos can clinch first place with a win or a tie against Lethbridge. The Victoria Vikes also sit at 4-1 but with 18 points thanks to the conference's bonus point structure, and a Calgary win would give the Dinos a better percentage of points earned vs total points available. The three-time defending conference champs will join the Vikes, the UBC Thunderbirds, and the Pronghorns at next week's Canada West Championship in Lethbridge.

DEFENCE FIRST
The Dinos have owned the conference's stingiest defence again this year, holding their opponents under 15 points per game on average in giving up just 73 through five games. Only UBC, which has allowed 85 points, joins the Dinos with double-digit points against, with Victoria at 103 and Lethbridge at 105.

THE REMATCH
Calgary faced Lethbridge on the road Sept. 21, taking a 27-17 victory over the Horns in a back-and-forth affair. And there's a reasonable chance that the two teams will see each other again next week too in the conference final four, back in Lethbridge.
