Dinos improve to 10-0 with sweep of Bisons

WINNIPEG - The No. 3 Calgary Dinos played a strong and steady game to top the Manitoba Bisons 72-55 in men's basketball at Investors Group Athletic Centre on Saturday.

The reigning U SPORTS champs now extend their win streak to ten games, while the Bisons' record falls to 3-7.

It looked like it was going to be a tight game after the first quarter as the Dinos had a narrow 17-13 lead. As the game carried on, the gap steadily continued to widen. The Dinos outscored the Herd 20-10 in the second, then 18-16 in the third.

The same two teams also played on Friday, where the Dinos led by 30 points heading into the half and held on cruise control to top the Bisons 87-59.

The Dinos crashed around the boards and dominated off the glass. Third-year forward Brett Layton led the way in rebounds and points, earning himself a double-double. Layton snagged 13 rebounds and put up 22 points.

Fifth-year guard Mambi Diawara wasn't far behind Layton, adding ten points and nine boards.

On the other end of the court, fourth-year guard Rashawn Browne stepped up to the plate, leading the Bisons with 16 points. Third-year forward James Wagner also put up some numbers. Wagner grabbed seven rebounds and put up ten points.

The Bisons have a conference bye next weekend and have time to rest up before they head to the University of Alberta on Friday, Jan. 4. Tipoff for that game is at 8 p.m. MST.

The Dinos head to Lethbridge on Thursday, Nov. 29 to take on the Pronghorns at 8 p.m. MST before returning home for their final conference game of 2018 Saturday, Dec. 1..
