National champs return to scene of victory

CALGARY – The defending national champion University of Calgary Dinos men's basketball team keeps racking up the frequent flyer miles as they get set for the 2018-19 season.

After a five-game trip to Costa Rica in mid-August, the Dinos spent the first week of September touring Germany. Now, they're set for their first action against U SPORTS opponents, and they're headed to Nova Scotia – the scene of their remarkable championship run last March.

Calgary will play three games in three days against Atlantic opponents, beginning with a Friday contest in Antigonish, N.S. against St. Francis Xavier, with tip-off at noon MT. Saturday will see the Dinos taking on Saint Mary's in Halifax at 4 p.m. MT, with the last game of the tour in Wolfville on Sunday at Acadia at 11 a.m. MT.

All three games will be broadcast live at www.AUStv.ca.

Following the weekend, the Dinos will play one more non-conference game, taking on Brock Sunday, Oct. 21, before opening the regular season the following weekend. The Regina Cougars will be in town for a two-game set Oct. 26-27, and the Dinos will raise their 2018 national championship banner prior to the Friday night home opener that week.
