KAMLOOPS, B.C. – For the second night in a row, the University of Calgary Dinos men's volleyball squad fell in four sets to the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack (25-23, 20-25, 25-17, 25-23).
The loss drops the Dinos to 10-8 on the season as they get set to come home to face the top-ranked Trinity Western Spartans next week.
Offensively, TRU was led again by Tim Dobbert with 21 kills, while Josh Mullaney added 14. Regan Fathers had the most kills for Calgary in this match with nine.
The WolfPack got off to fast start and went into the technical time out leading 16-14. The Dinos weren't giving up and battled back but couldn't overtake TRU who won the opening set 25-23 led by Tim Dobbert who had 6 kills in 18 swings.
Calgary came back and took the second set by five (25-20). Fathers had three kills and a block in that set.
The match see-sawed again in favor of the WolfPack in the third. Dobbert had five kills in nine attempts while Joshua Mullaney added four kills in five swings in a 25-17 win. The fourth set was back-and-forth for the most part until TRU pulled out the set and match. Dobbert had six kills in that stanza with Mullaney contributing five.
Calgary will face the Spartans in the Jack Simpson Gym next weekend, with match time set for 7:30 p.m. Friday followed by 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
