VANCOUVER – The University of Calgary Dinos (3-0-1) scored four power play goals en route to a 7-0 win and a weekend sweep of the UBC Thunderbirds (1-3-0) Saturday at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre.
The T-Birds played the Dinos to a tight first period while Calgary had a one-goal lead heading into the break thanks to
Drydn Dow's first of two on the game.
Things really broke down for UBC in the second when the Dinos scored three times within a four-minute span including two on the power play.
Calgary added three more goals in the third while handing UBC a third straight loss.
The Dinos took full advantage of undisciplined play by the 'Birds finishing 4-for-10 on the man advantage. UBC went 0-for-5, failing to score on the power play for the second straight game.
Calgary outshot UBC 35-25 with Matthew Greenfield picking up his third win and first shutout of the season.
Dow finished with two goals and two assists earning the game's first star while Riley Sheen and Garrett Forster each had three points.
The Dinos will look to carry their momentum into next weekend as they play a home-and-home with the Alberta Golden Bears. The series opens at home Friday night, with a 7 p.m. puck drop at Father David Bauer Arena.
