WINNIPEG – The seventh-ranked University of Calgary Dinos found their killer instinct Saturday afternoon, coming back from late deficits in all three sets to defeat the Manitoba Bisons 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 26-24) and improve to 13-3 on the year.

Manitoba falls to 6-10. The Dinos have now won five games in a row. 
 
Bison Kearley Abbott led both teams with 11 kills, and Calgary's Kate Pexman had 10. Sydney Booker and Leah Shevkenek had 37 and 34 assists, respectively. 
 
Manitoba opened the first set with an early 6-1 lead, but Calgary soon caught up. The Dinos tied the game four times before the technical timeout. The home side led 23-20 when back-to-back Calgary kills (from Pexman and Brianna Solberg) brought the set within one. The Dinos tied it at 23 on a Laura McManes kill, added a service ace and took the first 25-23 on a bad set. 
 
The Bisons quickly jumped out front in the second. Josie Abbott led the home team, winning the first point of the set on a kill and later serving two aces in a row. But, once again, Calgary battled back, tying the game at 20 when Solberg served an ace. The Bisons put up three more points, but it wasn't enough. The Dinos won the second 25-23. 
 
The pattern continued in the third. The Bisons were up 21-15 when the Dinos rallied for six consecutive points to tie the game and then take the lead for the first time in the set. Emma Kastelein and Hannah Tanasichuk combined for five kills after the technical timeout to help Calgary win the set 26-24, the game 3-1 and the weekend series 2-0. 
 
The Dinos return to the friendly confines of the Jack Simpson Gym to host the UBC Thunderbirds next weekend, with first serve set for 6 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday..
