EDMONTON – Autumn MacDougall and Alex Poznikoff each combined for three points, as the University of Alberta Pandas hockey team cruised to a 4-0 win over the Calgary Dinos, Friday night at Clare Drake Arena. 

On top of MacDougall's pair and Poznikoff's tally, rookie Kennedy Ganser scored for Alberta on Friday. Lindsey Post stopped all eight shots she faced to earn her fourth shutout of the season. 

The heavily favoured Pandas got off to a tremendous start, scoring three goals on 16 shots in the first period. MacDougall opened the scoring halfway through the frame, banging in a loose puck in the slot past first-year keeper Kelsey Roberts. 

Ganser doubled the lead just six minutes later on the powerplay. Fifth-year defender Megan Eady's initial shot was turned aside by Roberts, but Ganser read the play perfectly, ripping the rebound into the empty Calgary net. Poznikoff capped off the flurry with her 10th goal in the dying minutes of the first. The sophomore sniper found herself on a two-on-one rush with MacDougall, tapping in the perfectly executed cross ice feed from MacDougall. 

Calgary came out more aggressive in the second, but the pressure lasted for less than two minutes. Sasha Vafina had a great look from the slot, but her shot sailed over the bar, as the short burst of momentum went by the wayside following a double minor for a hit to the head. 

Despite not scoring in the second, the Pandas continued to dominate the Dinos in every facet of the game, outshooting their counterparts 26-3 after 40 minutes. 

MacDougall ended any hope of a Calgary comeback early in the third, completing another highlight reel goal with Poznikoff for her second of the game and ninth goal overall. 

With the win, the Pandas have now won four straight, and 11 of their past 12. Their 11-4-3-3 record keeps the Pandas in second place overall with 42 points in 21 games. The Dinos, meanwhile, slip to 2-15-1-3 with just 11 points in 21 games. 

The Pandas and Dinos will complete the home-and-home tomorrow night, as the Dinos host the Pandas at Father David Bauer Arena in Calgary.
