Photo by Matt Wood / UNBCPRINCE GEORGE, B.C. - Jordan Hall turned in a sensational performance in goal as the UNBC Timberwolves battled the Calgary Dinos to a 0-0 draw in Prince George Sunday.
The fifth-year keeper, playing in her final home game as a Timberwolf, made 12 shots on 19 Calgary attempts to grab a point for UNBC on Sunday.
Samantha Chang-Foidl wasn't tested at all, as the Timberwolves (0-5-3) couldn't muster a single shot in the match.
The Dinos (5-2-1) controlled the majority of the possession throughout the first half, but UNBC's defensive effort was critical in keeping the game scoreless.
Mollee Ramsay, Canada West's second leading goal scorer, had Calgary's best chances early in the half, putting four shots on net after coming in as a substitute in the 24th minute.
Ramsay got her fair share of iron late in the first half, drilling a shot off the crossbar in the 38th minute. She then got robbed by Hall in the 45th minute, as she jumped to stop a shot attempt for the biggest of her four first-half stops, then got some help from the crossbar to keep the game at 0-0 through halftime.
Calgary turned up the pressure in the second half, pouring another 12 shot attempts in on the Timberwolves goal. However, Hall stood tall once more, keeping her team in the game with a strong display of goalkeeping.
There was a bit of drama in the late minutes, as Hall went to challenge for a ball against a hard-charging
Jordan Smith just outside the 18-yard box.
Hall got the worst of it, as she went down and left an open net.
Amanda Pak tried to lob the loose ball into the goal, but her attempt bounced off the far post, and play was stopped before the Dinos could get control and break the deadlock.
The Timberwolves will travel to Edmonton for a crucial doubleheader with the Alberta Pandas (3-4-1) on Saturday and Sunday, while the Dinos return to Alberta for a home-and-home series with the Lethbridge Pronghorns (2-3-3) on Saturday in Calgary, then Sunday in Lethbridge.
